1930s ART DECO Vanity Restoration
Welcome back to Project Profit, the series where I transform used items into profits for non-profit organizations. In this blog post, I’m reviving a stunning Art Deco-era credenza generously gifted from our landlord, Sheldon. This beautiful piece came with great storage space and a unique planter bucket, a testament to the trends of its time. However, years had taken their toll, leaving behind faded paint, minor dents, and a rusty planter bucket.
ReFurbishing A ‘90s Desk Chair into a Statement Chair
Last summer I found a basic office chair on the side of the road. I think it’s dated around the early 2000s or late 90s and has an interesting chrome body…but the rest is definitely lacking some life. As soon as I saw it on the side of the road, I had a plan to make it cuter… a no sew reupholster hack with two throw pillows.
HOW I DIY DUPED THIS DESIGNER LAMPSHADE FOR UNDER $30
I’ve made a couple different lampshades and light DIYs in the past. With those DIYs in my belt, Ive been seeing these lampshades on Pinterest that sell for a lot of money…I mean first of all, they are so beautiful and they look like they take a lot of time but when I saw it I immediately felt the need to make it.
Farmhouse Cabinet Upcycle
A while back, Rachael's mom shared her desire to update the front door foyer area in her home by adding some much-needed storage space under the stairs. She has been loving the FarmHouse aesthetic, and gave some inspiration from Pottery Barn that she liked, but it came with a hefty price tag of $800, which was way beyond her budget. Ideally, she wanted a vintage piece that matched our aged oak dining room table, which is not an easy find. She mentioned that she'd like to spend around $250 on this project, which sparked an idea. What if she commissioned Rachael with that $250 to transform an existing piece to contribute to the Project Profit fund? She loved the idea, and that's how this project began.
Art Deco Era Credenza Restoration

Restoring mcm 1970s vintage chairs i bought for $6
As always I always do, I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace and passed a set of chairs that seems to have a strong mid-century modern shape to them, and were only $6 each. They were pretty dirty up and could use some love, but a gut feeling told me they might be vintage… so I took a screenshot of the chair and used the magic of google reverse image searching.
Upcycling Two side tables into 4 to sell them for a profit
Okay guys, I have some exciting news. This is the first part of a new series I will be working on called Project Profit. Throughout this series, I'll be finding second-hand items, whether they cost very little or no money that could be on the side of the road, Facebook marketplace, at the thrift store, and bring you through the process of how I upcycle them to give them a fresh new look. After upcycling them, I will be trying to sell them on marketplace for a profit, which will then be donated to a charitable organization.
Scandinavian Thrifted Lamp Upcycle
My friend found this cool lamp base at the thrift store a couple months ago and picked it up because she saw potential to upcycle it. That said, it got tossed into a pile of a bunch of other future projects and put on the back burner. When I asked around to some friends if they had anything they wanted upcycled, she brought this bad boy out and told me to give it a go!
Mid Century Modern Dresser Upcycle
My friend Justin reached out to me and told me he wanted me to upcycle this old dresser he had in his living room. The only directions he gave me was “something green and maybe mid century modern”. I was inspired by a West Elm dresser I found that was really expensive that had these chunky rounded handles, so I thought I would try and replicate that, but in a more ‘Justin’ fashion.
