Dark and Moody Bathroom Makeover - Loft Vibes

Loft Vibes is the series where we makeover our office space into the studio space of our dreams! Season 4 has begun, and we made the move from our old loft office to a huge industrial garage studio, but it needed A LOT of work to make it come to life as the vibey studio space we’ve been dreaming of. To watch the previous episodes, check out our playlist here. We also have blog posts for ALL the spaces we’ve already done including the storage room, office, lounge boardroom, kitchen, entryway, and vanity! Today we’re taking on one of the most anticipated spaces - our scary bathroom!

Thanks to Fiverr for helping us figure out the plan for this makeover! We’re going with a dark and moody bar bathroom vibe similar to this design,

We’re first going to tackle the DIY tambour accent wall that’s going along the back wall by the toilet. We’ve done tambour in a few of our spaces here in the office, including this DIY wood slatted sideboard and as a DIY accent wall in our entryway makeover. Let’s take it on again, this time staining the wood prior to attachment and keeping a smaller space between pieces! Make sure to prime your wall before with your paint colour of choice; we chose matte black.

Next up is paint! We have a beautiful botanical wallpaper going up on the vanity wall, so we matched a terracotta rust colour from that print for the concrete wall behind it. This adds a great pop of colour to the room. We also painted the ceiling and door black to keep the space moody and make the ugly drop ceiling blend in more. To finish the ceiling off we switched the ugly acrylic shade on our overhead fluorescent light with a tinted black piece to make the ceiling feel seamless.

Our vanity was recently installed but we didn’t get a say in the design and it doesn’t really match the vibe we’re going for. We’re keeping the faux concrete countertop, but we’re removing the doors and painting the whole base black, including the silver handles. On top of the counter we swapped out the sinks for large industrial stainless steel ones (since we wash A LOT of paint brushes in them) as well as changed the faucets to taller matte black ones.

We fell in love with this botanical dark wallpaper we found online and just knew we needed it in the space. We installed it on the wall over the sinks and then added three matte black globe sconce to complete the look.

Finally for some finishing touches we swapped the door handle for a matte black one, added matte black towel rods, installed a paint brush drying rack, and styled it with some faux plants (since there’s no light for real ones to live). Take a look at our dark and moody bathroom makeover!

This makeover was a LONG time coming, and we are so obsessed with how it turned out. We love that it matches the vibe of our office while still having its own style, and that we kept it functional at the same time. To see the entire journey check out the video below!
