Complete Dream Spa Basement Bathroom Makeover - Making Home

Welcome to my series Making Home where I makeover my newly renovated house into my dream home! I’m so excited to use my DIY, design and thrifting skills to make my space my own, starting with my basement ensuite bathroom. Here is what my bathroom looked like pre-reno, and post-reno:

This bathroom was completely new which meant I got to customize it from the ground up. I went with a shiny natural white tile in the whole space, matte black Delta fixtures and brass accents. I also DIY’d my dream mid-century modern vanity, which you can read all about here. And finally I brought down the original clawfoot tub from the upstairs bathroom into this basement bathroom, which still needs some work to complete. Let’s get started!

With the tub, I wanted to paint the outside to match my aesthetic more and to help seal the tub. I went with a sage green colour to add a new colour into the space instead of sticking with strictly black. I also installed brass light fixtures above the vanity, and a matte black sconce above the bathtub. To complete the vanity area, I bought a walnut-framed mirror that brought warmth into the space and matched my custom vanity.

All that was left to do after the shower glass was installed was some finishing touches like adding plants, DIYing a bathtub tray and shower organizer, putting up towel hooks and hanging dried eucalyptus in the shower. Check out my completely renovated dream spa basement bathroom!

I’m not lying when I say that this is definitely my favourite room in my house, it’s so cozy and I love that I get to relax and unwind after a long day!
