DIY SALVES & BALMS - PERFECT GIFTS!

Today is day three of our DIY gift week! Today we are making DIY salves/balms. These things can get suuuper pricey online (Kelsey recently bought one for around $50… WHAT!?). Today we are making one salve for moisturizing and another for soothing muscle aches! Let’s get making!

MOISTURIZING

We experience super cold winters here in Canada, and so this salve is very essential!

INGREDIENTS:

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a double boiler. You can do this by boiling some water in a larger pot and placing a glass measuring cup inside. Be sure to use a glass measuring cup that you only use for crafting, because the oils can stick to the inside of your cup.

Start by first melting down the beeswax. After the beeswax is fully melted, add all of your other ingredients. Feel free to experiment with which essential oils you add to the mix!

Once everything is smooth and melted down, pour into cute gift-able jars (you can check some out here!)

SOOTHING

This next salve is PERFECT for soothing tight or painful muscles.

ingredients:

Again, start with a double boiler and add in your 2 tablespoons of grated beeswax. Melt fully, then add all of your other ingredients!

Next to strain the mixture. After some testing, we found that using a fine fabric (such as pantyhose) works perfectly for this. After straining, add 20 drops of rosemary essential oil. Pour into your giftable containers, and enjoy!

We finished off these salves by adding cute labels, using our label maker!
