DIY Wedding Place Setting

It’s officially wedding season and one thing that is so crucial when planning a wedding is finding ways to make everything beautiful without breaking the bank. So why not DIY something when the opportunity presents itself? Having a beautiful place setting unique to your wedding helps to create a memorable experience, and I’m going to teach you how to DIY one!

Materials Used

Card stock

Instax printer

Scissors

Utility Knife

2 pieces of fabric

Dried flowers

Instructions

Step 1- Print the menu

Starting with the paper card of this place setting, I created a mockup for my own menu which you can download here. It’s a .psd photoshop file which will allow you to edit the text to reflect whatever menu items you want to list.

I printed my menu on some linen-textured card stock that goes really well with the overall aesthetic I’m going for with the place setting. This is an opportunity for you to get creative so choose whatever paper works for your wedding!

Taking some scissors, my first step was to cut my menu out of the card stock. If you’re using my menu template, you’ll notice four tiny tick marks on the bottom half. Using a utility knife, I made a small incision where those marks are because this will hold an Instax photo of each guest to show them where their designated seats are.

To create that personal element, I printed out a photo of a memory I had with each guest using an Instax printer. This can be a photo of you and your guest together or anything that reminds you of them, such as a photo of place you traveled to together!

Step 2- Add Your Fabric Elements

Select some fabric or ribbon of your choice to use as the napkin and bow tie for the place setting.

In true Sorry Girls fashion, I wanted to know if this part was also DIY-able or even thrift-able. So I went to the thrift store to look for fabric options and I found so many good linen options in the curtain section!

I didn't need that much fabric though, so I opted for some scrap materials we had left over from previous DIYs. I cut down the fabric to my desired sizes and then it was time to assemble everything.

Step 3- Assemble the Place card

I folded the fabric for my napkin to be about the width of the menu card, then stacked the menu on top and tied a neat bow around them with another piece of fabric.

Lastly, I chose some dried flowers that went with the aesthetic of my place setting and added them behind my Instax photo to create some more visual interest.

Here is the finished look!
