It’s that time of year again - Dorm Series time! This year we’re changing things up a bit as we take on bedroom makeovers for students living at home. Don’t worry though, these makeover solutions are still super dorm-friendly and will give you tons of tips on decorating your dorm.

Meet Andrea, a first-year student studying in Toronto. She describes her style as “Grandma’s bedroom - but elevated” and loves everything cottagecore with a bit of a boho vibe. Let’s get started! This is what her bedroom looked like before:

BEFORE

PEEL-AND-STICK WALLPAPER

To start this makeover, we installed some peel-and-stick wallpaper in a beautiful vine pattern to her closet doors and wall to make the space more colourful. In the spirit of dorm series, we’re not painting today, so this is something that is easily done in a dorm room as well!

ADD THE COZINESS

Next up we gave Andrea a new desk and a rug to make it super cozy in here, and then installed a beautiful canopy over her bed. We also thrifted some long white and lace curtains that bring Grandma’s vibe into the room and for storage we brought in cute crates and a vintage thrifted trunk.

BRING ON THE ART

By using thrifted frames, we pulled off a super affordable gallery wall using sticky tape strips so that this tool-free project is totally doable on campus. Make sure to take out the glass so that you know these frames are lightweight and easy to put up.

FINAL TOUCHES

To finish it all off we brought in a vintage mirror, swapped out her dresser knobs for cuter ones, styled tons of thrifted decor and added battery-operated fairy lights and faux trailing vines above her bed. Check out this completed dorm makeover!
