Small Colorful Bathroom Makeover

Hi there, friends! Kelsey here. I'm absolutely thrilled to share with you the transformation of my upstairs bathroom. While it was by no means unappealing before, it was lacking that special touch of character and vibrancy. Originally part of a rental unit in my home, the bathroom had a neutral and bright palette. However, now that I've reclaimed this space as my own, it was time to infuse it with color and personality, giving it a whole new life and ‘me’ energy!

I wanted to give this space a calming, spa-like feel, but I also wanted to add a pop of color. So, I went with a fresh pale blue for the walls. To add some depth to the room, I painted the walls three-quarters of the way up and then added custom molding for a little extra dimension. And to keep things interesting, I made some wooden dowel hangers to hang towels along the molding.

From the get-go, I was set on creating a one-of-a-kind tile backsplash for my sink area, and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! I opted for two colors of small square tiles: one matching my blue paint and the other a neutral ivory. Together, I arranged them into a charming checkered pattern that adds a playful touch to the space.

To spruce up the space, I headed straight to my favorite spot—the thrift store, of course! I found some real gems, like a cheetah print swan figurine that made me smile and a vintage glass tray for my toothbrush. I also scored some great finds on Facebook Marketplace, like this awesome shower bench that just needed a little TLC.

For the DIY part, I sanded down the secondhand shower bench and gave it a fresh coat to protect it from the moisture. I also swapped out the black sink vanity handles with wooden pulls I found on Etsy, which I stained to match the vanity wood.

And for the finishing touches! I styled my shelves with thrifted books, my cute swan, hairbrushes, and some dried eucalyptus for a calming vibe. I hung my favorite textured bath towels on the molding dowels, added some plants to the shower bench, and organized all my bathroom supplies. Voila! The transformation is complete, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
