Turning my kitchen pantry into a home bar
That 70's House is back with another house project! I have this pantry closet that honestly isn't very needed in our house! That said, we DO need more kitchen storage, so I thought I would turn it into a home bar / coffee bar situation! That said, I want to do everything with second hand materials if possible, so come on the journey with me!
Before
Cutting Out the wall
First things first, I had to cut out the walls and put up a new one farther back. That said, I left the bottom half of the wall in so that a credenza I found could be fit in perfectly!
Building a Countertop Insert
After taking out the wall, I went vintage shopping and found 2 walnut pieces that I thought would be perfect for the space. Then I sourced a bamboo countertop, a sustainable alternative to regular wood, and attached it to the remaining walls to create a cupboard for the credenza to fit into. After measuring everything, I also found that there would be a little bit of space between the walls and credenza, so I used some spare wood to fill in those gaps.
Tiling the Wall
I originally wasn’t planning on tiling this space, but after seeing this tile second hand on marketplace, I realized almost all of the inspiration pictures I had saved had this type of tile in it! So I snagged it up and took to tiling the wall!
Bringing in the Furniture
Next, I thrifted 2 stunning mid century modern walnut pieces that I thought would be perfect for the space. One credenza that would work perfectly as a bar and the top half of a shelf that I upgraded into an upper unit but making a few quick cuts.
Final Results
After a bit of styling, bringing in my appliances and adding a bit of LED lighting, this is how the final result turned out! I am SO happy with how it looks. What do you think? Go to our YouTube video to comment your thoughts!
