Decorating For the Holidays in My Mid Century Modern Home

Moving into a new house has had me really reassessing all my past aesthetic choices, and this includes my past Christmas decorations. Holiday decor can lean really cheesy, really fast if not done right. In the past, my holiday decor has been pretty ‘Scandinavian’ in style and I liked that but I feel as though I have shifted my style to more of a mcm look; however in doing some research, I have found that I am not the biggest fan of the metallic “futuristic” look that came with the holidays in this style (shown below).

After doing some more research on holiday aesthetics, I found these images below, leaning more retro in style that I really liked the look of.

The Plan

So I took to the drawing board! Being in a new house, I had to find a new place for the two main holiday staples: the tree and the stockings. The following two pictures were my final decision of placement.

Final Results

After lots of thrifting, antique shopping, and moving things around that I already had, here are the final results of my living room all decked out for the holidays!
