WHICH PLANTS WILL SURVIVE IN ZERO LIGHT?!
We are constantly seeing tons of posts floating around Pinterest about plants that are able to survive in completely zero light, and we are always a bit skeptical about these claims. We’re here today to test eight plants, some we’ve seen on Pinterest and some we’ve had professionals recommend to us. It’s time to test.
The plants we’re going to test are… spider plant, fern, dracena, snake plant, fittonia, nephytis butterfly, ZZ, and pothos.
We put all eight of our plants in our loft bathroom. It has zero light, and some moisture from the shower that is regularly used. We watered all of the plants as much as they wanted to be watered, and waited 30 days to see who would thrive and who would die.
THE RESULTS:
In summary, we are VERY impressed with all of the plants we have tested during the month! We definitely thought we would have only one or two winners, but we have a TON of winners!
THE WINNERS:
Though they all did well, we had some plants that very clearly thrived. The pothos and fittonia both thrived and began growing new leaves in their dark environment.
THE LOSERS:
The fern was one of the plants that didn’t do the best in these conditions. It had to be watered a BUNCH, and though it was growing a bit, a lot of the leaves were dying off and falling all over the bathroom. Not cool fern.
The nephytis butterfly also didn’t do the greatest. While it was also growing, a lot of the plant was also dying as well.
And that’s it! We hope you LOVED the plant games as much as we did. If you want to see and hear more, check out the video below!
