So many of you are ask questions about the channel, about our lives and and so much more, that it was about time for a Q&A… but let’s have a little fun with it and make it a ‘Vogue 73 Questions’ format! Here’s what we chatted about in the video!

Q1 - How are you?
A - Really great actually, excited to answer some questions today and go thrifting, I'm also packing for a trip!

Q2 - A trip? Where are you going?
A - La La Land

Q3 - You rent out the upstairs of your house, how has it been being a landlord?
A - It's been easy! I have such a chill and respectful tenant.

Q4 - Nice set up [referring to Kelsey’s living room], what's your fav place to buy a couch?
A - I've found unique options on facebook marketplace but also love EQ3 - that's where this is from.

Q5 - Why don't you have any pets?
A - Responsibilities and fur.

Q6 - What's a typical week look like?
A - This is my calendar this week :

 
 

Q7 - Can you give us an upcoming video spoiler using emojis?
A - 🪴🖥✈️💜🎮

Q8 - Thoughts on trends or classic design?
A - I think it's important to lean classic because it's the sustainable thing to do. I have this book by AD and I like to look through and try to guess the year of the design, it helps me practice what I think is classic vs trendy by seeing what looks outdated now.

Q9 - If you could redo any of the makeovers on your channel which would you redo and why?
A - I was watching one of our first large makeovers the other day - my bedroom makeover from (linked here)

Q10 - How has your relationship with Becky changed since your first video together?
A - From knowing eachother for one month when we filmed our first video- to being roommates who saw eachother all the time - to now running a business as grown women. There is so much trust and understaning in our relationship which only could have been created through the various scenarios we've been through together. We know eachother so well and obviously have so much in common.

Q11 - Will there be anyore miniature inspired content in the future?
A - I'm down. Let me know in the comments what you'd want to see.

Q12 - How do you deal with indecision?
A - in my own home I have lots of indecisions, as you may have seen. But, when designing other people's spaces, there's less pressure, so it's more fun.

Q13 - How do you motivate to workout?
A - I buy class passes and register for classes in advance. If I pay for it I'm going!

Q14 - If you could wear one outfit for the rest of your life what would it be?
A - Something classic and formal [shown in video]

Q15 - How do you not get stains on your outfits while working?
A - Who said that?

Q16 - How has it been sleeping in a basement?
A - Cozy because of the lack of light - it's actually warm in the basement, not cool or damp at all.

Q17 - Spiders?
A - Haven't seen any bugs in a while luckily.

Q18 - Will you switch up your bedroom to the dark cozy vibe you teased on Instagram
A - thought about it alot, but I think it's going to stay, I love how serene it is right now

Q19 - When are you going to repaint your bathroom?
A - I'm not. can't believe you guys are still on this...

Q20 - Is an open shower messy?
A - No, the concrete slopes the way it should. I love it so much, it's like a spa

Q21 - Do you have an itch to move to a new home?
A - Yes…

Q22 - Visiting toronto - what's not to miss?
A - I'll make a guide on my IG for you (@kelseymarillis) ! okay time to hit the thrift store…

A - *sings* because I don't want to dieeeeeee

Q24 - Why do you only upload once a week, you used to upload more?
A - Couple reasons. Content is longer, production quality is higher, concepts are bigger, we take on more behind the scenes not related to videos - and now we have a nice health worklife balance!

Q25 - Why are there no videos with the two of you anymore?
A - Oh there still are. Based on the content we're making and our schedules each month we do a video together, videos seperately, and Rachael does one too.

Q26 - What is your fav part about being a YouTuber?
A - Being able to do what I want to do.

Q27 - What's your least favourite part?
A - Negative internet culture.

Q28 - How do you deal with negative comments?
A - It sucks, it can effect the whole team. But I just remember that if you're leaving unneccasry hate…that's a "them" problem. You can't please everyone.

Q29 - Always interest in a relationship update…
A - assuming you mean romantic relationship - Elliott and I have been together for a year now and I rave to my therapist all the time about how beautiful and healthy my relationship is. He's an amazing partner.

Q30 - Thrifting tips please
A - Let me ask Becky and Rachael what their answers are…

Q31 - if you had to paint every wall the same colour for the rest of your life what would it be?
A - a warm white, blank slate for decor and art - mostly timeless

Q32 - Did Becky and Rachael respond?
A - Rachael says to never be hungry and Becky says that you gotta be in the right mood to go.

Q33 - Who pays for the makeovers you do?
A - Depends on the project - but YouTubers will always pay for their makeovers.

Q34 - How would you upcycle this? [picks something up from thrift store shelf]
A - I don't know let me think about it…

Q35 - If you could decorate the home of any celebrity who would it be?
A - Zendaya…call me

Q36 - How did you come up with your branding?
A - We sat down as a team and played with some colour pallettes and designs that inspired us. We wanted something fun but elevated for who we are today.

Q37 - How much money do you make.
A - Respectfully I'm not going to answer that but I can say that Becky and I take a reasonable fixed salary but the rest of the $$ stays in the business to keep reinvesting.

Q38 - How do you make money?
A - Adsense and brand partnerships are our top sources. Affiliate links, speaking gigs and licensening are part of the equation too but it's important to us to keep expanding our revenue streams.

Q39 - Do you feel awkward filming in public?
A - …. no comment

Q40 - Do you think you think you'll always be YouTubers?
A - We love creating videos but we know there may come a time where we need a change since we've been doing this for 11 years. So we're slowly trying to build up other aspects of our business we see maybe consulting and courses, larger-form productions, and product lines all in our future.

Q41 - What about your own TSG airbnb rental?
A - also yes.

Q42 - Have you decided what you want to do with the thrifted item from before?
A - Yes!! I would take two of them, paint them and use them as flower pots.

Q43 - I like it, very you - What is each sorry girl known for in the office?
A - I dont know, let's go ask the team...

Q44 - Wait did you get something at the thrift store?
A - *shows off new top

Q45 - What's your favourite DIY in the office?
A - The credenza that becky made!

Q46 - What's something you miss about the old loft.
A - the windows and light.

Q47 - What's something you don't
A - no elevator, the landlord, second floor, bugs, no dishwasher, smaller space, no rooms, no storage, no outdoor space

Q48 - Will the podcast be returning?
A - As of right now - no.

Q49 - Akay this is a popular request - ALL THE TEA PLEASE!?
A - …Well we have matcha, peppermint.....

Q50 - Alight, alright, well at least tell us about tea with Daniella leaving.
A - Ahh Daniella was our first employee, she had been with us for 5 years since her internship. She just needed a change, totally understandable and no hard feelings. she actually came back recently to temp for us while we were busy.

Q51 - Okay okay well what's your fav snack in the office?
A - Justin - just kidding dried mango

Q52 - Speaking of Justin, let’s ask him what each Sorry Girl is known for in the office.
A - Becky is actually known for losing her electronics a LOT in the office, her fire ‘fits of course, and for you [Kelsey] I’d say you notice smells that no one else really notices when you’re here.

Q53 - Where's the rest of the team?
A - We're doing a hybrid work situation so people are working from home, Rachael's in every other week so she's not here this week and Becky's filming a video that takes place at home today.

Q54 - How long before you decided to turn YT into your full-time business?
A - 5 years

Q55 - What was it like becoming a boss at such a young age?
A - Felt a little silly honestly, maybe it was impostor syndrome haha…

Q56 - How is the work split up between the whole team?
A - Okay ready? Justin/ Nick, video editors. Andrea - social media. Baljit - short form content (follow us on tik tok). Nina - producer. Rachael - video creator. Allie - office manager. Rochelle - art assitant. Kelsey and Becky oversee all things of the business and create videos too.

Q57 - Did the storage room stay clean?
A - Let's go see.. pretty good I'd say

Q58 - Scariest tool to use?
A - Table saw, we actually don't have one

A - Drill, driver, circle saw, sander.

Q60 - What are brands you've said no to?
A - This week? A knife company, coffee company, sex toy company….

Q61 - Something you've always wanted to DIY but haven't?
A - Hydroponic cabinet for herbs and lettuce

Q62 - Would you ever do a charity house makeover?
A - 100%

Q63 - Can we have an episode of just Danny?
A - Day in the life of Danny has been on the video idea list for a while actually.

Q64 - What's your birth chart?
A - Sun virgo, moon gemini, rising leo

A - Sun taurus, moon taurus, rising virgo

Q66 - Who actually owns The Sorry Girls?
A - Becky and I are the only owners and we are equal partners

Q67 - Have you and Becky ever thought about quitting the Sorry girls?
A - I haven't.

Q68 - If YouTube ended tomorrow what would you do for work?
A - Probably create my own sustainble interior design firm.

Q69 - How did you make the decion to bring on Rachael as the third Sorry Girl?
A - Rachael started as our art assitant, we fell in love with her charm and creativity. We didn't really plan on bringing on a new Sorry Girl but everything clicked after we had a meeting about our long-term business goals, we realised we needed more time to focus on those projects - hense bringing in Rachael to make videos.

Q70 - How do you avoid biz owner burnout?
A - Best thing we did was set 9-5 hours for ourselves.

Q71 - What's your dream trip?
A - Japan

Q72 - Do you ever experience impostor sydrome?
A - Honestly my friends help with impostor syndrome, they're big cheerleaders. But I try to remember none of us have it figured out. so for me maybe it's not so much beating impostor syndrome, it's being realistic and not glorfying those we think are nailing it?
