A Week Of Outfits Inspired By Old Tumblr. Trends

Okay, so I asked you guys over on Instagram to send in some of the most memorable and iconic tumblr posts you remember for me to recreate some outfits inspired by them, while still trying to keep them in trend for today. I took to the inspiration board and thrift store and here’s how my week went.

Monday

I got SO many pictures of daisies in our DM’s so I knew I had to start off strong with this one. I went to the thrift store to find the perfect pair of jeans. Most pictures within this aesthetic had very neutral and simplistic outfits, so my goal was to find a good pair of jeans and a white top (similar to the picture above). Once I found the perfect Levi’s, I put some cardboard inside the leg holes and started painting some freehanded - sketch like - daisies with some white fabric paint.

Tuesday

If you had tumblr in the 2010’s, you would have definitely seen this picture circulating around. I would like to call this vibe ~soft grunge.~ It isn’t fully the grunge aesthetic, but it was definelty trying to be it. So here was my take on it, using all items that were previously thrifted, already in my closet.

Wednesday

This one hits a bit differently, I don’t know what it was, but the ~just girly things~ trend really had a grip on us. So I thought it might be fun to try and make it a little less…cringe and a bit more modern. A huge trend that I’m sure you’ve seen come back in the past couple of years is corsets. I found this ultra bright pink dress at the thrift store that had quite a nice bodice under all the lace and pizazz. I used the bodice section and turned it into this top, making it a faux corset!

Thursday

The editing…the angles…the outfits… the ‘swag’ era took us by storm, coming in hot with Justin Bieber, flat caps and extreme edits on all pictures. I feel that the same vibe can be achieved with current fashion trends like bucket hats, beanies and oversized clothing, so thats exactly what I wore!

Friday

For the last day of the week, the 2010’s version of ‘BookTok’ comes in … the academia aesthetic. We all wanted to be her, to have it together like the aesthetic showed off. This academia girl is now all grown up and is more of a corporate gal, using a mens blazer from the thrift store, I cut it in half and created a two piece outfit with asymmetrical accents. Pretty sure that the 2022 version of this vibe would wear something like this!
