Warm Mid-century Modern Bedroom Makeover!

As you all know, it’s the thick of the winter season and that means cold, snowy, dark days which just don't vibe with me or my mood. In an effort to shake me out of the winter blues, I decided to give my bedroom a little refresh by changing it from a cool grey and blue palette to a warm-toned haven. Check out my room before:

It wasn’t the worst by any means, but it just didn’t match my style anymore. Here are three tips on how to freshen up your space, without changing every single thing about it!

A LITTLE PAINT WILL GO A LONG WAY

The first thing I needed to tackle was the paint. I wanted to do more of an orangey colour, so I chose terracotta which was the perfect fit. This already went a long way in brightening up the space and making it feel so much cozier.

Obviously we love DIY, and this room makeover is no exception. I was crazy in love with a certain style of headboard but couldn’t bring myself to break the bank for it. So I made it myself! You can check out how to make it here, and download the free template here.

MAKE NEW FRIENDS, BUT KEEP THE OLD

One major part of this makeover was making sure that my existing pieces were going to fit with my new finished look. I really loved the decor and the furniture that I have, but I added a few extra things that pulled my new and old style together. I scoured the internet for a butterfly chair like the one pictured below and was able to purchase one second-hand. And we recently went antiquing with our friend Tasha Leelyn (check out our crazy adventure here), where I picked up a great vintage lamp to add some light into my life.
