Renter-friendly Bedroom Makeover
Hey everyone, it’s Rach! If you've been keeping up with me, you probably know I just moved into my new loft, and I’m in the middle of transforming it into the rental home of my dreams! One of the first areas I had to tackle was the bedroom—it’s so important to create a space where you feel safe, cozy, and totally at ease at the end of the day. I envisioned a vibrant, unique, and super comfy vibe, but since it’s a rental, no permanent changes allowed. That just means I had to get extra creative with some DIY magic.

Let me tell you, a good night's sleep truly starts with a great mattress, and I finally found mine! As someone who deals with insomnia way too often, the Leesa Reserve Hybrid mattress has been an absolute game changer. It’s not just incredibly comfortable, it’s also hypoallergenic, eco-friendly, and surprisingly affordable for a luxury mattress. The best part? It’s built with SEVEN layers of foam! You can even customize your comfort with three levels: soft, medium, or firm. Plus, each mattress comes with two of their ultra-comfy down pillows, which are hypoallergenic, machine washable, and perfect for any sleeping position. I popped this bad boy on my bed frame, let it inflate and we were ready for total sleep bliss!
DIY day
I spent one of my makeover days diving into some fun, creative projects, crafting, building, and installing a few renter-friendly DIYs to really make my bedroom feel personal and stand out. In total, I completed three projects:
1. Faux Stained Glass Windows:
I searched online for the perfect design and found peel-and-stick vinyl sheets that were super easy to cut and install. They’ve totally transformed my windows and add such a cool, artistic vibe.
2. Copper Pipe Wall Sconce:
For this one, I grabbed some copper pipes, connectors, and scrap wood from my local hardware store to create a unique base. I threaded an IKEA pendant lamp cord through it and finished with a thrifted lampshade. It’s now wall-mounted in the entrance of my bedroom since I don’t have a traditional door, and I love how it immediately welcomes me to the space.
3. Tiled Mirror:
Becky had previously DIY’d a checkered mirror with baby blue and yellow tiles, but I decided to repurpose it. Using acetone, I removed the original colors and then painted the grout a rich, dark maroon, giving it a more refined, fresh look.
Final Touches:
Now for my favorite part—styling! I added cozy, colorful bedding, some thrifted treasures, art for the walls, and personal items to bring the whole room together. It’s officially a space that feels completely 'me.'
