Mason Jar Sconce DIY

Mason jar DIYs used to be ALL the rage back in the days that we started this channel, so we thought it was about time we tried them again, but make them look a little more updated! An old DIY of ours is this Mason Jar Lantern that we made in this YouTube video : https://youtu.be/CpNq8f3kM1Q

So let’s upgrade this old DIY!

What you will need

First, I am taking my glass cutter, clamping it to the table and slowly scoring out a straight cut along the bottom of my mason jar. After, I interchanged the bottom of the jar between hot and cold water until the piece split in half where it had been scored.

Using some glass sanding paper and water, I carefully sanded the mason jar edge so it would be smooth to the touch. Make sure you are wearing appropriate PPE when doing this as it can be dangerous to breathe in glass powder.

Next, I grabbed the lid off the mason jar and measured out the size the light was that I was attaching to it and punched out a circle to size. To do this, I used a nail and hammer and hammered small holes along the circle until it fell off.

With the pieces separated, now I could spray them black so they would match the hanging hardware.

Put it all together and you have a quick and easy lamp that with refract beautiful light rays from the textured mason jar!
