Retro Inspired Patio Makeover
Hey guys, Becky here! Last year, I had to say goodbye to my gorgeous rooftop patio because the garage underneath decided to have a meltdown... But guess what? We fixed it up, and now it’s ready for a major glow-up! Join me as I transform this space into the ultimate retro, Palm Springs-inspired hangout spot!
The Inspiration:
I wanted to create a vibe that screamed vintage Palm Springs and this inspiration board was the perfect reference point!
The Hard Part (AKA: Roof Drama):
First things first, we had to rebuild the patio deck. When we first fixed up the roof (the patio on top), we made sure to slant it downwards to let any rainfall drain off (since water was the cause of the first structural downfall). With that in mind, and to ensure it was safe for walking and furniture, we leveled out the base with some wood studs. Once that was done, we added deck boards and a railing to finish it off. It was a lot of work, but it set the stage for something amazing!
The Fun Part:
Normally, this is where a patio makeover would start, but the hard work made the fun part even more rewarding! I stained and sealed a classic picnic table, upcycled an old umbrella by dyeing it to restore its gorgeous color and adding fringe to the ends, added an amazing and cozy IKEA outdoor couch, picked up two vintage chairs off Facebook Marketplace, and styled it to perfection.
The Best Part (I Get to Enjoy This Now):
I couldn’t be happier with the final results. If you want to see all the DIYs and exactly how I pulled this off, watch the video below!
